Who We Are/History
A project that began in earnest in 2011 came to fruition in late 2018, with Tasmania finally joining every other state and territory with a standalone dedicated Police Legacy. The Board members are a tireless team committed to Police Legacy Tasmania and have all been involved in some way since the concept was born out of the recognised need for such a scheme.
Police Legacy Tasmania (PLT) is a registered charity and has deductable gift recipient taxation status. PLT has qualified all tests as required by Government regulators. Thanks and recognition must go to the Police Association of Tasmania, as without the support of previous Executives and past PAT Presidents, Police Legacy Tasmania would still be an agenda item.
What We Do
As PLT is still in its infancy, compared to most of the other legacies across Australia, our primary focus will be to assists the legatee’s and their families that are left bereaved. Our income is primarily derived from the generous financial support of sworn members and retired members of Tasmania Police. This is complemented by sponsorship, fundraising and other donations.
